Soil testing as per Vaastu Shastra
For
prosperity, growth and overall well being, Vastu stresses on the importance of
quality of soil as one of the fundamental factors while selecting land for
construction. According to Vastu the soil is divided into Brahmin, Kshatriya,
Vaishya and Shudra categories on the basis of colour, taste and smell of the
soil. Soil which is white, reddish or yellow, has a sweet smell and is fertile,
is considered very auspicious for residential and commercial purposes. The soil
which is black in color, has bad odor and tastes bitter is considered
inauspicious.
Vastu Shastra
lays down guidelines to aid you in the Selection of a Site with the ideal ‘Soil’. Since Vastu
Shastra is a science, every guideline is based on logic and
reasoning. In this paper I would like to put some light on the methods used
under vastu Shasta for testing of soil.
Broadly
classifying according to Brahmsahita we use three different methods/ techniques
for soil testing.
FIRST METHOD
- Dig the pit of
1.5’X1.5’X1.5’ and excavate all the soil. Further use the same soil to
fill the pit again. If after filling the pit we are left with the soil,
Thereby meaning that the land will be give us prosperity and growth in
life.
- If after the filling of
pit no soil is left that means the land will neither enhance nor destroy
the status of the person.
- If at the time of filling
the pit the soil is reduced and does not able to fill the pit completely that clearly
indicates that the land is not good and will deteriorate the status of
person and resulting into mental troubles.
SECOND METHOD
- Again we have to dig a pit
of 1.5’X1.5’X1.5’ and fill it with water and wait for 30 to 45 minutes.
- If after the said time
elapsed pit still contain the same quantity of water, means that the land
is good and will give success to native.
- If after the said time the
water level is reduced to almost three-fourth, the land will neither give
gain nor the loss to the person.
- Lastly if the water
reduced to half or below indicates that the land will not be good for the
native and will give negative results to him in the form of monetary losses
and mental agony.
THIRD METHOD
- Dig a pit of
1.5’X1.5’X1.5’ at the time of sunset and leave it overnight.
- If until morning little
water is left indicates that land is good and will give prosperity to
native.
- If the water has exhausted
but the land has retained the moisture content shows that the land is of
average quality neither good nor bad for native. It will maintain only
status quo of the native.
- If the water has completely exhausted and the land has developed the cracks on its surface, the land will be inauspicious for native resulting into loss of health and finances.
